About Us -

Glaurieus Beginnings... I got my first Bedlington Terrier in 1990, he was a rescue. I was living in Chicago, IL attending art school and working part time at a grooming salon. One day a volunteer from the city Animal Shelter brought in a sad looking dirty dog that turned out to be a Bedlington Terrier under its matted coat. While giving the dog a much needed bath and trim I found out he was going to be euthanized unless he found a home immediately. Without much consideration, I adopted him. His name was Lambchoppe but I called him Chopper. We became the best of friends and quickly developed an unbelievable bond.
I had Chopper for 10 wonderful years. He went with me from art school in Chicago to a University in Iowa and stood by me when I got married. After his passing my husband and I began our search for a Bedlington puppy. That is when we first met Sandy Miles and Foley Harper of Sandon N' Oakhill Bedlingtons. Sandy just had a litter with one blue and tan boy who would be ours. We registered him as Sandon N' Oakhill Leo Might Be Lion and call him Leo. Sandy and Foley soon became dear friends and mentors to us. Not only did we have a handsome new puppy, we had cherished new friends. With their guidance and encouragement, we decided to show Leo in conformation. The rest, as they say, is history...
Two years after getting Leo we went back to Sandy and Foley for a bitch puppy. We were giving pick of the litter and chose a typey blue girl with lots of attitude. We registered her as Sandon N' Oakhill TruBlu N' TaraBel for her dark color and feisty "Terrible" or "TaraBel" personality. We call her TaraBel or Tara for short.
Wayne and I had been showing Leo in conformation for about a year when we got Tara. At 6 months old we entered her in the classes. Tara was a stand out in the ring and Judges took notice. She was Best In Sweeps at the Specialty in Long Beach, CA. A few months later Tara and Leo finished their Championship on the same day!
After years of involvement in the breed and parent club, and learning as much as I could from my friends and trusted mentors, it was time to take the next step and breed our first litter. In 2008, Tara whelped her first litter out of Leo and we established Glaurieus Bedlingtons Terriers! - Laurie Friesen
