CH Sandon N' Oakhill Leo Might Be Lion
Leo is our first Bedlington Terrier from the Sandon N' Oakhill Kennel. He was originally bought as a pet, but once he matured it was clear to us he needed to be shown in conformation. Leo is a beautiful representation of the breed. Leo got a late start and began his show career as a young adult. That, combined with our novice handling abilities, held him back a bit. The show ring was not the happiest place for Leo. He would have rather been outside the show ring meeting and greeting the crowd. But judges took notice of Leo's remarkable breed qualities and often placed him in their Terrier Groups.
Since semi-retirement from the show ring, Leo has been successful at Earth Dog competitions where he can exhibit his natural hunting abilities. He is currently working on his Earth Dog title.
In 2008, Leo was brought back to the show ring competing in the Veteran Dog class at Specialty shows. He has won Best Veteran Dog In Specialty as well as Sweepstakes. It took a few years, but Leo has decided showing is fun and has gone on to win several Best of Breed ribbons at 7 years of age - beating out the younger dogs! Judges are amazed to learn Leo is 7 years old and still competitive. His handsome physique, structure, and movement is testament to good breeding. Leo is the foundation stud dog for Glaurieus Bedlingtons. He is DNA 1.1 clear and CERF tested.
